Homemade Iced Tea

Iced tea is a cold form of tea. Any tea that can be brewed hot can be made iced. There are 3 ways to make iced: cold brew, hot brew, ice chill.

Cold brewing is the best way to make iced tea. It’s also the easiest method, but it takes a few hours. Simply combine tea and water, then leave it to steep in the refrigerator for 6-12 hours, depending on the tea.

Hot brewing is quicker than making cold brew, but it can make your iced tea bitter if made incorrectly. Brew the tea using hot water, then cool it down. This method takes about 1-2 hours to make.

Ice chilling is the quickest way to make iced tea, but you need a lot of ice. This can make your iced tea cloudy and bitter if done incorrectly. Make the hot tea, then quickly cool it down using ice. It will take less than 10 minutes.

Iced tea will get cloudy when too many tannins (astringent compounds) that are naturally in tea leaves are released into the water. This happens when water is too hot during the tea brewing process. If you do get cloudy tea, just add some hot water into the iced tea to clear it up.
